The Energy Star rating changed from 14 to 14.5 seer, but this $1500 rebate requires 16 SEER for AC systems. Systems must meet ALL of the requirements such as for a heat pump it must be a minimum of 15 SEER, 12.5 EER, and 8.5 HSPF or greater. You can confirm the ARI rating on each system at the Air Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration (AHRI) website.
Up to $1400 Rebate From Texas. Texas State Energy Conservation Office has over $23 million in funds from the Federal Stimulus program to provide another source for rebates. Beginning in early April you can reserve your rebate. They anticipate the funds will be exhausted quickly so it would be advisable to reserve yours today.
